When it comes to maintaining your social media profiles, it’s important to maintain a consistent voice across all your accounts. Social media gives you a platform to create a brand for your company online. This is the image that people naturally think of when they hear about your company in the future. The last thing you want to do is confuse them with conflicting voices.

Here are some tips for keeping a consistent voice on social media accounts.

Create An Online Persona For Your Business

Your business will take on a life of its own on the internet. It will no longer be linked to your personality. In fact, it will become a character of sorts that you happen to puppeteer every now and then. That’s why it is best to create a persona that represents the company on the web. This doesn’t have to match how you actually act as a person. It just needs to be something that your audience can connect with.

If you need a good example of this, check out Taco Bell’s Twitter account. The wit in every Tweet fits perfectly with the restaurant’s spunky persona. This style of social media management may not fit your

Make Your Writing Match Your Audience

If you are a doctor who works mainly with expecting mothers, you may not want your social media voice to be that of a 20 year old college student. At the same time, a local bar and grill may not want to create the persona of a middle aged accountant. You need to come up with a tone for your writing that reflects your company’s overall objectives. Who is reading your social media accounts? What do they want to see from you? These are the questions you have to ask yourself.

Choose Topics That Match Your Tone

Try not to be too haphazard with your social media posts. Focus on a general theme that you follow every time. For instance, if you’re the gynecologist we described above, you might post news articles about baby names or announce a new sonogram machine you put in your office. You wouldn’t put up memes from the web about dating or knock-knock jokes. What you say matters just as much as how you say it online.

Keep your audience in mind with everything you put on the web, and you should have no trouble maintaining a consistent voice in social media.
